Kala Young PA-C completed her Bachelors of Science degree in biology with a concentration in environmental studies at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tennessee. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and was a member of the Tri Beta Honor Society. She was also a biology scholarship recipient and a lab instructor.
She completed her Masters of Medical Science degree in Physician Assistant studies at Lincoln Memorial University – DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harrogate, Tennessee. Here, she was given the opportunity to gain more knowledge and experience by volunteering for medical missions through LMU whose focus was on rural medicine, especially the Appalachia region. It was on one of these missions that she gave her first joint injection, which sparked her interest in orthopedics.
She holds current memberships with the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Tennessee Academy of Physician Assistants. Her active certifications include: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and International Trauma Life Support (ITLS).
Kala has wanted to live in Florida since the 4th grade when she did a project on manatees. She recently moved here from Tennessee and is looking forward to spending a lot of time in the water, as she is also a certified scuba diver. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and their three fur babies.
